Zoo keeper held in tokay gecko case

GUWAHATI, Nov 19 � City Police has cracked the case of the mysterious disappearance of eight tokay gecko lizards from the zoo, with the arrest of a zoo animal keeper, Ranjit Deka, in this connection today.

More arrests are likely to be made, police said. The lizards, however, have not yet been traced. Deka is said to have confessed to the crime which he had committed on the night of November 16. The theft was detected next morning. He has been remanded to judicial custody. Tokay gecko lizards are highly sought after in the international illegal wildlife trade, and fetch a fortune.
