SILCHAR, Sept 29 - RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday reiterated that India is the motherland for Hindus living in the country.
Bhagwat made the remark while addressing a meeting of RSS cadres and people sharing similar ideologies at Rajiv Bhawan here as a part of his three-day trip to Silchar to take stock of the activities of the Sangh in the North East.
Sources present in the meeting informed that even as he chose not to utter words on the issues of NRC or the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Bhagwat had said, �India is home to all Hindus living in the country. Also, those who live overseas also regard India as their motherland.�
Sources added to inform that the RSS chief had given a word of caution to the cadres and members to refrain from the easy quest for political aspirations since RSS is not an assembly power mongers.
Meanwhile, insiders at Keshav Bhawan here informed that Bhagwat had a closed-door meeting with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for nearly 25 minutes. The two leaders had arguably discussed on the happening issues surfacing in the political landscape of the State regarding the fate of the Bengali Hindu population. During the meeting, the RSS chief had suggested the Chief Minister to look into the areas of implementing the joint notification issued on September 7,2015 issued by the Central Government assuring protection to the displaced minorities coming into India on or before December 31,2014 from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh being victims of religious persecution, sources added.
