Dhubri Deputy Commissioner flags off Poshan Rath

DHUBRI, Sept 29 - Poshan Rath was flagged off by Dhubri district Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani from Raja PC Barua Playground recently to create awareness on nutrition-related issues and measures in order to curb them as a part of Poshan Maah-2019.

Officials of the District Social Welfare Office, Public Health Engineering Department, CDPOs, Swasth Bharat Prerak and Piramal Foundation, DTM (Education) were also present in the flag off ceremony of the Rath aimed at creating mass awareness on eradication of anaemia, control of diarrhoea, caring of children for first 1,000 days, ensuring Poshtik Aahar (nutritious food) to children and maintenance of hygiene and sanitation in each and every village of the district.

After flagging off the Rath from Dhubri, the participants walked about 3 kms throughout the town and then moved to other parts of the district. It also visited the tea garden areas for reaching out to the beneficiaries and ultimately covered around 104 kms

Meanwhile, nearly 6,000 workers in 2,959 Anganwadi centres , 1,941 ASHA workers and 527 ANMs in seven health Blocks were imparted training on how to conduct the Poshan Maah activities. They targeted about 3 lakh children between the age group of 0-6 years in 14 Blocks.
