GUWAHATI, Nov 19 - Basistha police on Thursday detained five youths � Dhruba Jyoti Sarma, Rahul Lahon, Bubul Das, Kuldip Sarma and Pranjal Kalita while drawing a mural of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi near the National Highway-37 here.
The mural portrayed agitating Akhil Gogoi surrounded by a group of police personnel. The mural was later erased.
The youths, who are members of a non-governmental organisation named Ango-Art Collective, were released this evening after questioning.
Meanwhile, in a statement the KMSS leadership condemned the police action saying it was a violation of the freedom of expression.
