Workshop on nanotechnology

GUWAHATI, Feb 15 � The Department of Bioengineering, Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology (GUIST) recently organised a two-day workshop � �Nanotechnology and Bioinformatics: Applications at Interface.�

The workshop was funded by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the North-east Quality Improvement Programme (NEQIP) for the development of faculty and staff.

Inaugurating the workshop, Professor Manab Deka, Director-in-charge of GUIST, explained the objective behind the workshop.

Explaining the aim of the workshop, Dr Debabrat Baishya, head in-charge of the Department of Bioengineering, explained the importance of subjects like Nanotechnology and Bioinformatics in the present world and how a researcher from mathematics, computer science, information technology, chemistry and physics could come forward for a better output.

Prof Rupjyoti Bharali, head, Department of Biotechnology, Gauhati University also addressed the gathering.

The workshop was attended by 25 participants from various backgrounds like biotechnology, bioelectronics, chemistry, computer science, electronics, information technology, mathematics and physics and included faculty, scientific officers and technical staff.
