NEW DELHI, Dec 18 - The Centre will not allow encroachment in disputed areas along the Assam-Nagaland border, said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here today.

The assurance came when a delegation of BJP MPs from Assam comprising Bijoya Chakravarty, Ramen Deka, Ram Prasad Sharma and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa called on the Union Home Minister at his Parliament House office today and raised the issue of encroachment of Assams territory by the Nagas.

Stating that a large scale encroachment by the Nagas has taken place in Jorhat parliamentary constituency, the MPs also complained about the conduct of the neutral forces and said that they were siding with the Nagaland Armed Police.

Singh assured us that necessary orders will be issued to ensure that no fresh encroachment in allowed to take place in the disputed areas, Chakravarty said.

The MPs also raised the issue of contamination of Brahmaputra waters, with Singh informing them that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has been requested to take up the matter with China. Singh also stressed that the reasons for the contamination should be identified, she said.
