IMPHAL, Oct 25 - Naga Womens Union (NWU) has welcomed and reaffirmed the historic Indo-Naga Peace Accord signed recently in New Delhi.

In a resolution adopted at its recently held annual assembly at Maringphai, Chandel district, the NWU has earnestly urged the Centre to expedite the framework agreement. It also called on the Naga people to work together by shedding their ill-feelings and differences and advocated for the womenfolk to take due part for bringing a permanent solution to the Naga political issue.

Naga women leaders, representing various Naga tribes in Manipur raised their voice against the three bills passed in the Manipur Assembly on August 31 last, and denounced the tribal MLAs for failing to protect and defend the rights and land of the people. NWU also emphasised on the need to strengthen the women organisations.
