GUWAHATI, Jan 12 - 70mmFlix, a new and first of its kind entertainment OTT platform for Assamese audiences worldwide, launched its website and mobile site here on Saturday.

This will be the first such platform exclusively showcasing Assamese movies and serials, filling the demand for quality regional entertainment content among Assamese audiences everywhere.

Akshata Narain, vice president of AM Television, Abhijeet Gogoi (PR Entertainment), Sandeep Srithodi (70mmFlix, Bengaluru) and Pankaj Rajkhowa (co-owner of 70mmFlix) were present at the launch ceremony.

With 70mmFlix, Assamese audiences not just within the State, but across the country and beyond, will be able to access a wide variety of titles released since the 1930s till date.

Following in the footsteps of hugely popular media streaming services such as Netflix and even national ones such as Hotstar, 70mmFlix was the brainchild of Pankaj Rajkhowa, who seeks to fill the void for consumption of Assamese content among a wider audience via streaming service dedicated exclusively to it.

A statement said that the initiative has been made possible through the constant efforts of Sandeep Srithodi, Diptendu Chakrabarty and Asha Dhananjaya (overseas market research and handling) of PR Entertainment, which has collaborated with AM Television to bring forth this much-needed platform to viewers.

The statement also said that although there are a number of OTT services that provide content in regional languages, they have not done justice to all that Assam has to offer.
