Villagers allege massive scam, lodge FIR

DHUBRI, July 12 - Hundreds of villagers from Falimari Gaon Panchayat area have alleged that job cards have been issued and bank accounts made in their names, without their knowledge and money from various schemes is being withdrawn.

The villagers of Falimari GP also lodged an FIR at the Dhubri PS recently in this regard where they clearly stated that, �2417 Job Cards under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Scheme have been made in the GP, out of which 80% Job Cards are fake�, which was signed by dozens of villagers.

The FIR also mentioned that the secretary of Falimari GP in league with other members of the gaon panchayat, has collected documents from the poor villagers, made their Job Cards and their bank accounts in the local CSP and later withdrew the money that came in the name of these beneficiaries, �without taking their consent� by forging their �signatures and thumb impressions�.

The police has registered a case (Dhubri PS Case No: 690/2020) against the secretary, vice president, one GP member, the CSP involved and a person who went from door-to-door to collect documents, under Section 120 (B), 420, 4069, 409, 468 of IPC. All the accused persons are absconding till the filing of this report.

Talking to this correspondent, the villagers mentioned that, through this process lakhs of rupees have been misappropriated by the GP members under the PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana, PM Vaya Vandana Yojana Pension Scheme, PM Jan Dhan Yojana and different village developmental works like earth-filling works. They also stated that the president of the GP was well acquainted about the scam, but did nothing.

�Amongst the beneficiaries there are many government employees, whose job cards have been made for and names enrolled in various schemes for farmers. Also there are women living with fit and fine husbands, but have been enrolled for widow�s pension scheme and their money is also being withdrawn, without their knowledge�, said Imran Khan one of the villagers.
