Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, Feb 12 The VHP Assam unit has expressed its resentment over police preventing the Parishads international working president Praveen Togadia from addressing a meeting of the Parishad at Geetanagar inGuwahati on Thursday.

The VHP in a statement issued to the press said that it finds no logic behind the police apprehension of a law and order situation if Togadia was allowed to address the meeting.

Thousands of people had come to the venue from various parts of the state to listen to the VHP leader.Hundreds others, who were on their way to attend it, were prevented by the police. We condemn the action of the police and the state government. We view this as an attack on the freedomof expression, said the party.
