Venkatesh Prasad accorded welcome at Canara Bank

GUWAHATI, Nov 22 - Former Indian Test cricketer BK Venkatesh Prasad, presently working as a Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank, today arrived on a two-day visit to Guwahati.

Prasad was accorded a traditional Assamese welcome at the Canara Bank Circle Office here, where Pranay Ranjan Deo, DGM, Guwahati Circle, along with others officials, greeted him. He interacted with all the officials present, according to a statement.

Today, Prasad also met Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley, State Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, MD of the National Health Mission JVN Subramanyam, Secretary-cum-Mission Director of the Swachh Bharat Mission Siddharth Singh, CEO of the Guwahati Municipal Development Authority (GMDA) Rupak Mazumdar, and had discussions with them on various issues.

In honour of Prasad, who was a fine swing bowler in the late 1990s, Canara Bank is going to organise a limited-overs friendly match tomorrow at the IIT Guwahati cricket ground among the employees of the Guwahati Circle.
