IMPHAL, March 9 � An under-trial prisoner (UTP) lodged in jail on murder charge died here this morning, an official source said.
Konjengbam Mani Singh (46), a resident of Moirang Siribom Leikai in Bishnupur district was in Shajiwa jail, Imphal after he was remanded to jail by Bishnupur chief judicial magistrate on March 5.
He fell unconscious inside his cell and was rushed to MI room of the jail from where he was referred to JNIMS hospital, Imphal for medical treatment. Doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, the source said.
The UTP was in jail after police arrested him along with his family members on the charge of murdering his daughter-in-law on March 29, 2014.
