Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, June 3 The proscribed ULFA Paresh Baruah faction, today served a quit notice to a private oil and gas company in Assam alleging that they were exploiting the States natural resources against the local peoples interest.

We are giving them the notice to stop all their operations in the State and leave within one and half months from today, said an ULFA statement on the quit notice to Shiv-Vani Oil and Gas Exploration Services Ltd.

If the company based outside Assam tries to continue its operations here with the help of security forces going against the interest of the local people, then its impact will be on the employees of the company, the statement by its central publicity wing chief Arunodai Dehotiya said.

Company officials couldnt be reached for comment. PTI
