Two hand grenades found

IMPHAL, April 4 - One Chinese-made hand grenade planted by unidentified persons was found at the complex of a fuel station at Khangabok in Thoubal district in Manipur while another hand grenade was discovered at Kwakeithel, a police officer said.

A bomb squad of Manipur Police came to retrieve the explosive device and safely detonated it at a safe distance, the officer added.

Meanwhile, locals organised a sit-in protest and condemned the act of planting the bomb in public area and urged the responsible group to own it up.

In another incident, a hand grenade was discovered at the residence of an engineer at Kwakeithel area early morning yesterday. Police said the medium-intensity grenade was safely taken to a paddy field and detonated two hours later. � PTI
