Two drowned at Machkhowa

DHEMAJI, July 31 - Two persons, namely Akash Sonari (12) and Kakali Panging(18) drowned on Friday afternoon in a pond at Kamarchuck village near Machkhowa Chariali under Machkhowa outpost at Dhemaji.

According to sources, the duo were catching fish with a net in a pond in the village to where the Laipulia river�s surging waters were flowing. By chance the duo slipped into the pond and could not save themselves. The bodies of the deceased were recovered later by the village people.

Later, local MLA Pradan Boruah visited both the grief-stricken families of the deceased and offered Rs 5000 to each family. He also assured to move the Government so as to provide reasonable compensation to both the families.

The deceased Akash Sonari was son of Sarki Sonari of Kamarchuck village, while Kakali Panging was daughter of Prafulla Panging of the same village.
