Two-day innovation fest at RSC from today

GUWAHATI, Feb 7 - Regional Science Centre (RSC) Guwahati, in collaboration with National Innovation Foundation India, is organising a two-day Innovation Festival on its Khanapara premises here from Saturday.

The festival is being held to encourage people to engage in innovative and creative activities.

Around 55 individuals from across the North East will take part in the event and display their innovations and creative ideas.

The event will have sections like �Innovators�, �Artisans�, �Do-it-yourselves� and �Challenge Corner�.

In the �Artisans� section, experts from different fields like art, craft, music, pottery, bell metal, brass, sculpture and terracotta will take part with their creative endeavours and give demonstrations to the visitors.

In the �Do-it-yourselves� section, many hands-on-activities will be conducted, especially for school students. Visitors can make some science kits by using readily available material provided to them.

In the �Challenge Corner�, some of the interesting science-based challenges will be given to individuals who visit the festival. The best participants in the �Challenge Corner� will be awarded with prizes.

The Dinanath Pandey Smart Innovation Award, comprising a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a memento, will be handed over to the best innovator of the festival.

Dr Mridul Hazarika, former vice chancellor of Gauhati University, will inaugurate the Innovation Festival as chief guest at 11 am tomorrow.

Entry to the festival will be free of cost and it will remain open for visitors from 11 am to 5.30 pm on both the days.
