TU gets fifth position in NIRF ranking

NEW DELHI, May 9 - Tezpur University has secured the highest rank among the educational institutions in the Northeast region and fifth rank nationwide in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

While Tezpur Central University has scored 84.31, IIT, Guwahati, has been ranked 11th scoring 74.62. The Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, has been ranked 20 with a score of 71.91.

North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, has been ranked 15th with a score of 72.41. Gauhati University and Dibrugarh University have been ranked 22 and 74 scoring 68.58 and 53.89, respectively. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Dibrugarh University has been ranked 36 scoring 51.41.

In a Lok Sabha reply to a question by Ninong Erring, HRD Minister, Smriti Zubin Irani said that no institute from Arunachal Pradesh is ranked among the top 100 in universities and engineering category or in the top 50 in management and pharmacy category in the NIRF.
