AGARTALA, July 10 As part of the nationwide agitation initiated by Bar Council of India, the Tripura Bar Association has decided to observe a two-day cease work beginning Wednesday.

Tripura Bar Association Secretary Arindam Lodh said the advocates would cease work for two days to oppose the Higher Educational Institutions Bill, 2010 as it was against the interest of the lawyers.

The manner in which the the bill was drafted and sought to be introduced by the HRD Ministry, it (the bill) clandestinely tries to sideline and harm the advocates of the country and their elected statutory bodies in the matter of legal education and legal profession, he said. PTI

Lodh said the decision to cease work for two days was taken at a general body meeting of the Tripura Bar Association held here yesterday. PTI
