Traffic cop gets accolades for dedication to duty

GUWAHATI, March 31 - Mithun Das, a traffic policeman of the Basistha Police Station, today got huge accolades from people on social media after one of his photographs, showing him doing his duty at Basistha Chariali point without having a raincoat or umbrella while it was raining heavily, went viral.

�Our senior officials appreciated his dedication to duty. I will recommend his name for recognition,� Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pranjit Bora told The Assam Tribune.

A senior police official said raincoats and other equipment are generally provided to traffic personnel to continue their duty during the rainy season.

�Probably, he didn�t find time to wear the raincoat, as the rain came suddenly,� said Bora.

Mithun Das is from the Assam Police Battalion and presently in deputation at the Basistha Police Station. He has spent around six years in service.
