Tiwa groups demand arrest of council CEM

GUWAHATI, May 30 - Several Tiwa organisations on Saturday demanded that Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC)'s chief executive member (CEM) Paban Manta be arrested for his alleged anomalies and corruption in the council.

The Tiwa Yuba Chatra Parishad, Tiwa Suraksha Samiti, Sadou Tiwa Mahila Santha, Morigaon district unit of Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani, Sadou Chutia Jati Sanmilani and a few other groups in a joint statement raised questions on the role of Morigaon police for not arresting Manta in this regard till date.

A case was registered at the Morigaon Police Station against Manta in 2018.

The Gauhati High Court had recently directed the Morigaon SP to probe into the allegations of graft by Manta.
