Thunderstorm lashes Biswanath Chariali

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Oct 24 - A thunderstorm lashed Biswanath Chariali town and its adjoining areas in Sonitpur district on Friday at around 11.30 pm causing heavy damages to houses and properties of the local residents. Thousands of valuable trees were also uprooted.

According to the official sources, as many as 15 villages, including Nabapur, Bamgaon, Bheergaon, Sholmari, Dakshin Dagaon, parts of Biswanath Chariali town, were worst affected. Power supply was totally disrupted and it might take four to five days to resume it.

Meanwhile, a relief camp has been set up at Sholmari LP School to shelter around 50 families of Sholmari village.
