IMPHAL, July 30 - At least three jail inmates including two convicts who claimed themselves to be nationals from Saudi Arabia, were killed in violence inside Manipur Central Jail at Sajiwa here in the wee hours today, according to Police. Three jail officials and one under trial prisoner was also injured in the scuffle.
The incident took place when the said two convicts Yusuf and Abdus Salam, in their early twenties, allegedly killed the under trial prisoner Thangminlian Zou alias Bobon (29) of Muallum village in Churachanpur at Cell 6 under Sector 1 of the Jail at around 1 am on Saturday, the source said.
On learning that Zou was killed, other inmates reportedly attacked and killed the duo � Yusuf and Abdus Salam, both from Saudi Arabia. They were arrested from Moreh for entering the State without valid documents in 2013.
The two Arab convicts were given one year imprisonment and completed their jail term on June 23, 2014 and their deportation was under process while Zou was an under trial, it added.
