Thousands register protest against CAA at Dergaon

DERGAON, Dec 16 - A large gathering was witnessed at the Gana Satyagraha organised by the local unit of AASU to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) at the Naren Sarmah Memorial Field here today.

The masses took part in their thousands since the inaugural day of the three-day long Gana Satyagraha and protested against the CAA.

Several organisations like Dergaon Sahitya Sabha, Dergaon Journalists� Association, Dergaon Sports Club, etc., took part in the programme where each and every individual protested against the CAA and demanded the Central Government to scrap the controversial Act.

Several speakers spoke about the negative aspects of CAA and demanded immediate scrapping of the Act. The peaceful and non-violent movement was led by Dergaon AASU leaders Milan Jyoti Khataniar, Chiranjib Bora and Polash Bora respectively.

Several artistes, including Aman Ahmed, Rajen Mahanta etc. protested against the CAA through music.

Significantly, several AGP leaders and workers also took part in the mass protest and addressed the gathering against the CAA.
