NEW DELHI, July 29 - The country�s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna will be conferred on evergreen singer-composer Dr Bhupen Hazarika, social activist Nanaji Deshmukh (both posthumously) and former President Pranab Mukherjee at a function here on August 8.
This was announced by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Confirming his participation in the event, Dr Hazarika�s US-based son Tej Hazarika posted on Facebook that �... my family and I will be at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, thanks to the Home Ministry of the Indian Government, to receive the Bharat Ratna that my father Dr Bhupen Hazarika was awarded posthumously last year.�
