Taekwondo players felicitated

GUWAHATI, Feb 19 � The taekwondo players, who won medals for Assam in the recently concluded 35th National Games in Kerala, were accorded a warm felicitation by the Assam Taekwondo Association (ATA) in a function held at the RG Baruah Sports Complex office here today.

Monika Baruah, Sanjo Boro and Rekharani Gogoi won gold medals, while Sabita Ramchiary and Rodali Baruah won silver and bronze medals respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, ATA executive president Bankim Das explained about the hard work done by the players who stay in remote areas of the State. He also urged the State Government to offer jobs to the medal-winning players.

ATA secretary Raj Kakoty, Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta, sports organisers Pradip Kumar Hazarika, Hiranya Saikia, Bishnu Ram Nunisa were present on the occasion.

The other members of the eight-member Assam team were Unmana Das, Mallika Baruah and Rekharani Roy.
