SILCHAR, Oct 23 - Demanding justice for the 40 lakh people in the State who have been left out of the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) published on July 30 earlier this year, the Citizens Right Preservation Co-ordination Committee (CRPCC) has decided to stage a month-long agitation programme from November.
Arunagshu Bhattacharjee, general secretary of the rights body told mediapersons that people have lost trust in the way the authorities conducted the NRC proceedings so far. �The process to scrutinise the citizenship of 40 lakh people in question should have been carried out by the court and not by the NRC authorities.
�We want the apex court�s intervention on the matter. We have a six-point demand with which we shall carry out demonstrations across Barak Valley from November 13 onwards,� he said.
