GUWAHATI, Jan 3 � At a meeting between the State government and the newspaper associations of the State held here today, a decision was arrived at to hike the State government�s advertisement rates for the print media by 60 per cent over the existing rates. The new rates would come into effect from January 1 this year, said an official press release here this evening.
It needs mention here that in protest against the State government�s failure to hike its advertisement rates for quite a long time, newspapers in the State have been desisting from publishing government news and advertisements for the past 11 days, since December 24.
