Sport climbing meet held

GUWAHATI, May 27 - Maibam Maibam Chingkheinganba from Manipur became the best climber in the Bimal Chandra Goswami memorial second North East Open Sport Climbing Championship which concluded at the IIE premises here yesterday.

The competition was organised by the Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA), Assam Sport Climbing Association (ASCA) and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) in memory of Bimal Chandra Goswami, who was one of the pioneers to promote sport climbing in the North-eastern region and a veteran mountaineer of Assam.

The two-day competition was organised in two categories-Lead and Speed, amongst three groups-sub-junior, junior and senior, both male and female where 100 players took part.

The closing function was held yesterday where Dr Shailendra Choudhury, MD, NERCORMP, Shillong was present as chief guest. Dr Abhijit Sharma, Director, IIE, KM Damo, Chairmen, IMF, NE Zone, Manoj Kr Das, DGM, NEDFi and Ex Director, IIE, Sreebash Bhattacharjee, juri president of competition and IMF representative were also present in the closing function which was chaired by Kishore Baruah, president, AMA.
