SHILLONG, June 7 - A special session of Meghalaya Assembly would be convened on June 12 to introduce the Goods and Services Tax Bill.

Terming the new tax regime as �robust and exhaustive,� Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the whole country is expecting that the GST is implemented as scheduled. The implementation of the Act is long-awaited as there were deliberations on it for a long time,� he stated.

Sangma said that consumer States like Meghalaya would benefit immensely through the introduction of the GST. He said that States would increase their tax collection by 14 per cent.
