Special hygiene room for girls opened

SILCHAR, Jan 4 - Considering concern over lack of awareness among a sizeable section of girls on menstrual hygiene issues, a menstrual hygiene room was recently constructed at the Government Girls� HS School.

This is a first-of-its-kind move in the State, according to the school authorities.�

State Minister for Forests and Fisheries and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya inaugurated the room and said that this step will surely help the girls attend classes regularly.�

Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan also hailed the effort and said that steps would be taken to make the facilities available in other schools as well.�

Talking to�The Assam Tribune�on Thursday,�Semina Yasmin Ara Rahman, Inspector of Schools of Cachar district hailed the initiative and said, �This was the need of the hour and I thank the Rotary Club of Greater Silchar for taking this bold step.�
