SILCHAR, July 24 - Ahead of the publication of the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on July 30, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today allayed fear of the people; particularly those belonging to religious and linguistic minority groups in the State with assurances of total security.

Addressing a gathering of women after inaugurating the Kanaklata Women Empowerment Scheme at the Karimganj DSA today, Sonowal said there is no reason to panic since no genuine Indian citizen will be left out from the NRC list. The Government is committed towards ensuring security for all. I urge upon people not to pay heed to the rumours which are being spread to create chaos at this crucial hour. He was quick to emphasize that unlike the Congress government, the BJP-led government is committed to work for simultaneous development of Barak and Brahmaputra valleys.

Elaborating on the Kanaklata Women Empowerment Scheme, the Chief Minister said that it is a flagship scheme of the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission aimed to create congenial conditions for the women in the rural areas.
