Sonapur villages under water

JORABAT, Sept 24 - Water from the Digaru river has inundated several villages under Sonapur revenue circle, including Alenga, Khorikota, Hathkhula, Nartap etc. The Digaru has started overflowing following release of water from the Umiam Dam in Shillong, Barapani area.

The locals alleged that the water from the Umiam Dam has been released without warning. The administration has allegedly done nothing to help the affected people, who have expressed fear that the situation could turn dangerous as the river has crossed the danger mark and the water level is on the rise.
