Slain SP�s weapon recovered

DIPHU, June 11 � A massive operation continues against United People�s Liberation Army (UPLA) militants in west Karbi Anglong. Today too, a combing operation was carried out by the Hamren police and security forces jointly at Morem Rumpra near Habang along the Karbi Anglong (Assam)-Meghalaya border.

It needs to be mentioned here that the service pistol of slain Hamren SP Nityananda Goswami and the AK-47 rifle of his PSO Ratul Nunisa, were recovered during the operation.

Besides, a huge cache of arms and ammunition of UPLA militants were recovered during the combing operation.

According to reports, six AK-47 rifles, one UBL gun, one M16 rifle, 32 magazines, 350 rounds of live ammunition, 11 hand grenades, uniforms etc., were recovered.

The arms and ammunition were recovered around 2 pm from Morem Rumpra, near Habang, police sources said.
