Sivasagar health workers doing survey works braving all weather

SIVASAGAR, July 5 - Of the over 30,000 dedicated ASHA workforce in Assam, 605 of them are busy in the second phase of house-to-house survey in Sivasagar district, in both the rural and urban areas, braving all weather under the Targeted Surveillance Programme.

Till Thursday, the ASHA workers in six Block PHCs of Demow, Geleky, Gaurisagar, Kheluwa, Kaloogaon and Morabazar, one MPHC in Patsaku and one Urban Health Centre in Sivasagar town had covered a population of 5,22,979 persons.

Over 8,893 persons have been screened by the medical teams in the district. During house-to-house survey, samples of 83 persons were collected and sent for COVID-19 tests, 185 samples were sent for malaria tests and 31 children were referred for diarrhoea management.

In urban vulnerable points, a total of 2,017 samples were collected, out of which 106 samples were from petrol pumps, 20 from dhabas, 776 from police staff, 872 from health staff, 21 from truck parkings, 138 from bus stops and 84 from others.
