GUWAHATI, March 26 - As per instructions given by the Government of India and the Government of Assam for preventing the outbreak of COVID-19, during the ongoing lockdown, it is mandatory that essential items like medicines, groceries, fruits, vegetables and milk are made accessible to people, an official release said.

Hence, it is necessary that grocery shop owners, chemists, fruits and vegetable sellers and milk sellers are allowed to keep their shops open.

At the same time, however, it must also be ensured that no gathering of people takes place in and around the shops, and therefore, the timing of operation for wholesalers of the above-mentioned items has been fixed from 8 am to 4 pm, and for retailers from 8 am to 7 pm.

Social distancing also has to be ensured in each establishment with proper sanitisation facility, the release said.
