SGFI to conduct cricket trials

GUWAHATI, April 27 - In a bid to reach out to maximum number of students and unearth talent in schools, School Games Federation of India (SGFI) will conduct a rigorous three-day trial camp in 20 cities across the country.

The trial will get under way from July under the watchful eyes of the panel of selectors. The short-listed candidates will go on to represent their respective city teams in the first season of the National School Cricket League (NSCL).

The trials will be open to players under the age bracket of 12-18 years and SGFI has short-listed 20 cities � Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Haryana, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Dehradun, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ranchi, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Noida, Indore, Varanasi and Allahabad � to roll out the nationwide Cricket talent hunt, stated a press release issued here.

�We are announcing the registration from today and we will be utilising all our on-ground machinery to reach out to as many students across the country. We have zeroed down specific centres as we believe that these places have huge potential and will help us identify the best budding youngsters in the country,� joint secretary of SGFI and CEO of NSCL, Dr Pradeep Mishra said.
