SILCHAR, July 9 - The residents of Tukargram village in Katigorah constituency of Cachar district are a worried lot as massive erosion has swallowed major chunks of their homes and cropland.
�Unabated river erorison of Kushiara, a tributary of river Barak is causing serious threat to around 500 people living on the edge of the Indo-Bangla international border. Our life is in jeopardy,� a section of the locals exclaimed.
Sources also informed that because of constant erosion, the road used by the BSF men leading to the international border is also affected causing operational inconviniences to the force guarding the fence.
Meanwhile, reacting on the development, local MLA Amar Chand Jain told mediapersons that already an estimate has been sent to the department concerned and measures to put a check on the erosion will start as soon as the funds reach.
