Several fraudsters arrested in NL

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Sept 21 - In a case of continuing illicit trade in fake gold objects and counterfeit currencies in Lakhimpur�s greater Nowboisa area, police recovered a fake gold artefact and subsequently made several arrests.

On Wednesday night, a patrol unit of Dolahat Police Station stopped three persons at Dolahat Tiniali in Nowboisa over NH-15 and recovered a statue of Jesus Christ made of fake gold. The three arrested persons were identified as Najibur Rahman (23), Ashraf Islam (21) of No. 2 Sonapur village under Bihpuria Police Station and Abhay Mishra (35) from Bihar.

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested for fraudulent activities of duping customers by promising double profit of cash in counterfeit form at Bangalmara, in Nowboisa. Those arrested were identified as Akbar Ali and Abdul Hannan of No.1 Sonapur village of Bangalmara. The three duped customers Kamal Seikh, Mizanur Sheikh and Aizul Seikh from West Bengal were also arrested.
