AIZAWL, March 21 - The Aizawl District Magistrate today imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the State capital to check coronavirus infection.

The order came into immediate effect and will be in force till April 10. It prohibits assembly of five or more people, holding of public meetings, etc.

The order, however, does not apply to medical workers engaged in taking up preventive measure against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Mizoram Government on Friday issued an office memorandum instructing all heads of State Government departments and offices to ensure that only 50 per cent of Group B, C and D employees attend office every day and the rest should work from home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Till today, 55,411 people have been screened in Mizoram and 177 people who returned from coronavirus-affected countries have been quarantined, while another 1,256 people who came back from other parts of the county were advised to go on home quarantine.

So far, 11 blood samples were tested, but no positive case has been detected, an official release stated.
