Sankardev Madhupur Mahotsav held

GAURIPUR, Jan 9 - Under the auspices of the Department of Tourism, Government of Assam and in collaboration with the Dhubri district administration, the Shrimanta Sankardev Madhupur Mahotsav was held at the Madanmohan Temple in Coochbehar and on the Madhupur Satra premises on January 8 and 9 last respectively.

The first-day programme started in the afternoon and was chaired by Jitendra Nath Prodhani, satradhikar of Ram Rai Kuti Satra and president of the Madhupur Satra Samiti.

The colourful programme was attended by Kumar Dipak Das, secretary of the Satra, renowned educationist Dr Rabin Das, Deba Misra, Director of Tourism, Government of Assam, and a few others.

Thiyanam was performed and varieties of cultural programmes including Tokari song, Satriya dance and Kushan song were presented and the Ram Bijoy drama was staged.

On the second day, a cultural procession was held and a souvenir was released. The open meeting held on the premises of the Satra was chaired by Prodhani and attended by a large number of disciples who came from different parts of the State.
