GUWAHATI, Dec 20 � A number of litterateurs from the State and other parts of the North-east were among those chosen for the Sahitya Akademi-2012 awards in different categories.
Chandana Goswami (Assamese) for her novel Patkair Epare Mor Desh, Guneswar Musahary (Bodo) for his poetry collection Boro Khontai, and Jodha C Sansam (Manipur) for her novel Mathou Kanda DNA were selected for the honour in the main award category.
Pankaj Thakur (Assamese), Swarna Prabha Chainary (Bodo), E Sonamani Singh (Manipuri), and Oinam Nilkantha Singh (Bengali) who is from Manipur) were selected for their works of translation, i.e., Bidirna Baghjai, Nwizise Sunodo Solo, Dharma Tattwa and Bristi Ar Holo Na, respectively.
In the young writers� category, Kamal Kumar Tanti (Assamese) was chosen for his work of poetry.
In the children literature category, veteran children�s author Santanoo Tamuly (Assamese) was selected for his lifelong contribution. In the same category, Haricharan Boro (Bodo) was selected for his essays, while Sagolsem Indrakumar Singh (Manipuri) was chosen for his work of science fiction.
