DHUBRI, April 19 - Hundreds of pilgrims from all over the State and neighboring States thronged the Mahamaya Temple near Bagribari to participate in the historic Saat Bisma Mela on Wednesday.
Believed to be a very auspicious occasion, pilgrims from far-flung areas take part in the mela. The fair will end on May 4. The temple holds a special puja, Satya Sankrantri Puja, on the occasion of Assamese New Year after which the fair begins.
This annual puja has a long history related to Ma Mahamaya, said Surendra Bhattacharjee, a senior purohit of the temple.
