Rs 5 cr research station approved

ITANAGAR, Nov 15 � The Centre has approved setting up of a Regional Research Station (RRS) of Central Institute for Temperate Horticulture (CITH) at Dirang in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The XII Plan Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has recommended establishment of the station, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh informed Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju in a letter.

The letter, a copy of which was made available to the media, said that an amount of Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for the research station to address the long-felt need and fulfil the aspirations of the people of the State.

The approval for the institute came on November 7 at the persuasion of Rijiju, who is also the Arunachal West MP. Rijiju had earlier written to ICAR for establishment of the institute in his constituency. � PTI
