AGARTALA, April 8 - Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is not worried over the State�s debt burden of Rs 11,000 crore. On Saturday he made it clear that there was nothing to panic over the huge fiscal liability left behind by the erstwhile Left regime.
�As long as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is with us, this burden will in no way affect the new government�s pledge for a developed Tripura by next three years�, he said while addressing a gathering to mark World Health Day at Rabindra Bhavan here.
Recalling former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshen�s gigantic efforts to bring massive reforms in the country�s electoral process by introducing EVMs, the Chief Minister said if a person could bring a sea change why doctors could not do it for the State�s healthcare sector?
Making an empathic call for change of mindset of doctors and other stakeholders, the Chief Minister said he had a meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda on how to boost the State�s healthcare sector.
�Naddaji has assured me of extending full support to boost the State�s healthcare sector�, he said adding that Wifi facility would be available at PHC level so that patients could consult with specialist doctors.
In his speech, Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman said, �It hurts me when ailing people of the State head for outside the State for better treatment. We have already begun a process to arrest patients going outside the State for receiving super speciality treatment as it affects State�s economy badly�.
Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Samarjit Bhowmik, president of Public Health Foundation of India Prof K Srinath Reddy, Director of Health Services JK Debbarma and Mission Director of NHM Dr Sailesh K Yadav were present in the programme.
