DIBRUGARH, Jan 5 � The ongoing �Raijor Podulit Raijor Sarkar� (RPRS) programme organised by the district administration in all the gaon panchayats (GP) within the district is attracting significant response from the rural population.
Hundreds of people, including women and youths, have been turning up to raise their grievances, complaints and concerns about governance and developmental activities of their areas. The district administration with its seven-member GP-level teams, which include representatives of the deputy commissioner, panchayat and rural development, GP secretaries and other relevant departments have so far covered 60 GPs.
The district administration is expected to cover all 93 gaon panchayats by January 8, 2015.
About 7,000 petitions have already been received by the GP-level RPRS team from the people. �The programme is an excellent opportunity for the people to also interact and discuss about various rural issues with the RPRS team,� Sarat Neog, a senior mediaperson from Borborooah told this correspondent after submitting two petitions at Borborooah GP office.
Deputy Commissioner MS Manivannan said that all petitions would be uploaded in the RPRS websites and the concerned departments have to respond to the queries and complaints. Under the RPRS, all petitioners will get response.
Raijor Podulit Raijor Sarkar (RPRS) is the programme of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for redressal of public grievances and to take the administration to the people. The programme started in the district on January 2. Altogether 20 RPRS teams have been formed for the purpose.
