Road, rail blockade in Dibrugarh

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

DIBRUGARH, May 21 - Irate local public of Rajaghat near Lahoal today resorted to blockade of both NH-37 and rail in the area after the district administration failed to take action in an accident in which a teenager was killed.

The body of the deceased teenager, who was later identified as Sanjay Dutta (18) of Hatkhula village, was lying on the ground since last night. It is suspected that the boy was hit by a train. As no one turned up to collect the body, the locals staged a two-hour road and rail blockade.

Several vehicles were stranded on both ends of the highway and at least five trains, including Chandigarh Express and Kamrup Express were affected due to the blockade. The protesters dispersed after the district administration and police intervened.
