Ripun Bora releases Rs 1 cr from MP fund

GUWAHATI, March 29 - APCC president Ripun Bora today announced allotment of Rs 1 crore from his MP Local Area Development Scheme funds for purchase of ventilators and other medical equipment and creation of health infrastructure to help the government in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Bora, a Rajya Sabha member from Assam, has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur in this regard.

�... I am to request you to release and place Rs 1 crore at the disposal of the Health department of the Government of Assam or any head of fund created by the Government of Assam for COVID-19 from my MPLADS fund for 2020-21. This fund may be utilised for the purpose of purchasing ventilators and other medical equipment or infrastructure for the temporary hospital as the Assam government may deem fit and proper in accordance with the Assam government�s fight against coronavirus,� Bora stated in his letter. He also donated his one month�s salary of Rs 1 lakh as a Rajya Sabha MP to the CM�s Relief Fund, while his wife Monika Bora, a former MLA, donated her one month�s pension of Rs 40,000 for use in the fight against the pandemic.
