NAGAON, Feb 19 - Based on specific intelligence inputs, Nagaon Police led by ASP (HQ) Mohan Lal Meena arrested a dreaded rhino poacher from Najan area under Jakhalabandha police station a couple of days ago.
Police recovered the butt of a point 303 rifle, one magazine and a silencer from his possession and subsequently based on his statement as well as other inputs, on Wednesday last, during another search operation, police recovered the other parts of the rifle along with two live ammunition from a culvert adjoining Kaziranga National Park where it was kept hidden.
The arrested rhino poacher has been identified as Robi Ali alias Kanu of Najan village under Jakhalabandha police station. The rifle was kept in a disassembled manner so that it could be carried easily into the park, sources added.
