RGS to host int�l chess

GUWAHATI, Sept 25 - The third Royal Global School (RGS) Guwahati India Open International Chess Tournament will be held at the RGS premises from October 7 to 12.

With a prize money of Rs 10 lakh, the championship will be supported by the Assam Government.

The tournament will be a flagship event and will provide a platform to the budding talent of the State such as Master Shahil Dey (national U-7 Chess Champion in 2014 and National U-9 Chess Champion in 2016, Commonwealth medallist and President award recipient in 2017), Master Mrinmoy Rajkhowa (third position in National U-7 Chess 2017), Master Mayank Chakraborty (2nd position in National U-9 Chess 2018 and Asian Chess Championship in U-10 in 2019), Dhrupad Kashyap (silver medallist in Commonwealth U-16 category in 2019) and Manthan Kashyap Datta (3rd position in National U-7), among others.

Around 400 players are expected to take part in the tournament. Players from countries like USA, Chile, Belgium, Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and from different parts of India have confirmed their participation.
