JORHAT, Aug 7 - Sports pensioner and noted sports organiser Dr Tapan Dutta has offered Rs 10,000 to Shamshul Haque, a physical instructor in Navodaya Vidyalaya for his initiation to encourage star sprinter Hima Das.
The amount was handed over by Nagaon Sports Association secretary Pradip Hazarika to Shamshul during the prize-distribution ceremony of the Sujit Narzary Trophy Sub Junior Inter District Football Tournament held at the Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon yesterday.
Dr Dutta hailed Haque�s effort for spotting Hima�s talent and asking her to switch over from football to athletics.
Dr Dutta also urged the sports pensioners to encourage such persons.
